How to use it

Use the mailbox that is actually monitored. A code pointing at an address nobody reads is worse than no code at all.
Add subject and body
A fixed subject lets you filter and route messages automatically. A short body template tells people what information you need from them.
Download and publish
SVG for print, PNG for anything on a screen. Place it where someone would reasonably want to write to you.

Best practices
- Use a role address such as hello@ or support@ instead of a personal one, so the code survives staff changes.
- Keep the body short. Long templates make the code dense and most people delete the text before writing anyway.
- Put a unique reference in the subject for each campaign or location. It is the cheapest attribution you will ever set up.
- Test it on a phone with the default mail app before printing. Some third party clients handle prefilled bodies differently.
Limitations
- The address is readable by anyone who decodes the image, so expect the same spam exposure as publishing it on a website.
- Attachments and formatting cannot be included. A mailto link only carries plain text.
- Very long subjects or bodies are truncated by some mail clients, and they always make the code harder to scan.
Privacy
The address, subject and body are encoded into a mailto link inside your browser. Nothing is transmitted to our servers and nothing is stored.
